Getting Better

Today I started to feel better. For the last four days or so I've had wicked allergies and the flu to top it off. I'm talking sneezing constantly, headaches, fevers, coughing, and general sadness all around. This is really a shame because apparently the warmest days since October have graced our presence outside recently. I wouldn't know. I've been in bed, sniffling, napping, and watching Lark Rise to Candleford (my new BBC period drama obsession) to satisfy my Downton Abbey cravings. I'm a sucker for fancy old clothing and English accents.

To celebrate my back to school wellness, Paul and I went to Barry's. It's the cutest Jewish deli in the whole world and it's right off of campus. I love it there. I'm one of those people who can eat the same thing everyday and never get sick of it. I ate a plain peanut butter sandwich for lunch everyday all throughout elementary school, really truly every single day. Keeping this in mind, I go to Barry's at least twice a week.   I will never get sick of creamy tomato soup with challah bread on the side. I get that almost every time, and while the orange color of the soup may be unnerving at first (Paul refused to try it the first time I got it solely based on its strange pastel color) but it's the best soup. Try as I might to just get real food, I always get a treat too. Not that my life is lacking in treats. But today they had chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, which they've never had before, so I couldn't pass it up. I am a sucker for sprinkles.

Since I was feeling so much better today, it was like seeing my house through new eyes. I have stared at the same wall too long these past few days being stuck in bed. While I was up and about I decided to take pictures of some of the paintings I've done and put around the house. The whales are in our baby blue colored bathroom and match perfectly (even though they were actually painted well before we moved into our house) and I painted this giraffe/lady/stoplight/car weird thing and put it in our living room. I really enjoy painting, but have a hard time committing to an idea. I will paint for six or seven hours straight and then take a rest only to come back to it hating what I've done. Luckily I have Paul around who will like whatever strange animal painting I do next.

  2. Thank you! The soup is the best. So good. Sometimes I even get a challah roll with cream cheese and then dip that in. I'm so lucky to have Barry's so close to home! I'm going to start a new painting soon, I'm not sure of what yet.

    1. It's the best! The baker says she only makes that cake when the boss isn't there because it's not on the menu. I'm lucky I got it when I had the chance!
